I imagine Shark is the type of person that secretly likes something but won’t ever talk about it because he’s shy and wants to be “cool.”
So when Rio and the others take him to an aquarium as a surprise he’s like crying tears of joy, he’s so happy, he loves fish. He can’t even pretend he doesn’t, even if he’s in public he’ll still excitedly tell his his sister and friends all these random facts about fish.
(Also he sees a stuffed shark? He begs Rio to go out on her own and get it for him.)
Rio eventually caves in and gets the shark (using his money of course) but makes a massive show about it to the cashier about how her DARLING BIG BROTHER is just FAR TOO SHY to purchase A SHARK PLUSHIE that he will MOST LIKELY SNUGGLE WITH WHEN WATCHING A SCARY MOVIE LATER TODAY so he doesn’t get ANY MORE NIGHTMARES and Ryoga is just like “r i o p l e a s e“
